Aims:

(i) to identify the potential impacts of climate change upon the region's transport infrastructure;
(ii) to assist the region's policymakers and transport companies in devising transport strategies that incorporate innovative responses to the threats and opportunities presented by climate change;
(iii) to help ensure the design of transport infrastructure, and the provision of public transport services in the region are sufficiently adapted to the potential effects of climate change.

Latest Progress Report

The transport sector group has close connections to TravelWatch South West. Expressions of interest from individuals, transport companies, and local authorities in joining the transport sector group are invited. The Transport Sector Group includes road, rail, light rail, tram, ferry and air modes. Whilst principally concerned with adaptation responses to climate change, the Transport Sector Group is also interested in linking with other groups considering aspects related to climate-change mitigation (especially concerning modal split: road, rail, air; fuel type and efficiency; vehicle type).
