Previous Tourism Sector Group activity includes:

Tourism Business Survey (2010) - In February 2010, the group commissioned a survey of tourism businesses to explore attitudes to extreme weather and adaptation. The results are available on this website's tools page. A presentation of the results can also be downloaded here: "Tourism business climate change survey" (pdf 1Mb) - presentation by Exeter University.

'Preparing for Change: Climate-proof your tourism business' - www.climateprepared.com - In November 2009 the group lauched, 'Preparing for Change: Climate-proof your tourism business' ,an interactive web-based version of the Tourism Adaptation Checklist tool, developed in partnership with Climate South East, Tourism South East and South West Tourism - www.climateprepared.com. The toolkit provides information on the potential impacts of climate change on tourism businesses, what actions can be taken to minimise the risks and maximise the opportunities, and links to relevant information and support. It also includes case studies, top tips and an interactive checklist, which enables users to create their own personalised action plan. The 'Preparing for climate change' leaflet, which is available from this website's tools page, outlines some of the key information and signposts people towards the toolkit.

'Changing Climate, Changing Business' DVD (2009) - In April 2009, the group also produced a video, 'Changing Climate, Changing Business', which is available from this website's tools page. The video, which features 11 tourism business case studies, aims to help raise business awareness of the need to adapt and to demonstrate the practical actions that can be taken. An accompanying booklet with 10 top tips to help tourism businesses adapt is also available.

In January 2010 the group produced a national case study on 'Using UKCP09 to assess the impacts of climate change on tourism in the South West region'; there is a link to this from this website's case studies page.
