The Met Office's Hadley Centre has produced a collection of 60 slides with notes, containing up-to-date knowledge of the state of the climate and projections for the future. The publication is accompanied by a CD-based power point presentation of the 60 slides. The CD, along with a paper copy of the briefing, can be obtained free of charge from the Hadley Centre website at: http://www.metoffice.com/research/hadleycentre/pubs/brochures/.

The South West Environmental Observatory has also published presentation slides summarising the state of the South West's environment on their website. These slides reveal key environmental trends in the region, as well as how the Observatory reports on the environment. Their website is at www.swenvo.org.uk (select 'Environmental Reporting' to see slides).

SWCCIP Adaptation Week 4-8 December 2006 - Press Release (pdf 115kb)

JANUARY 2003 - LAUNCH EVENTS
"Warming to the idea – meeting the challenge of climate change in the South West” was launched in January 2003 by Michael Meacher, the then Minister of State for the Environment and Agri-Environment. Over 160 interested parties, representatives of organisations and individuals, attended the launch events at Bristol Zoo and the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth. Delegates were provided with questionnaires giving them an opportunity to indicate which of the recommendations and actions identified in the Scoping Study that they considered to be the highest priority for future work of the South West Climate Change Impacts Partnership. An analysis of the returned questionnaires can be seen from the link below - it showed that the majority of delegates (81%) considered raising awareness of climate change impacts to be the highest priority over the next year. Delegate feedback also identified six priority sector groups upon which activity should be focussed. Click to view :-
