Background and status The heath fritillary is widespread in continental Europe but has suffered serious declines. In the UK it is confined to southern England. By 1989 only 43 colonies were known, representing a decline of over 50% decline in the last 25 years.

Securing management agreements on existing sites;

restoration of sites, if feasible;

research species requirements further
