An action plan, is being developed in England and Wales by the Environment Agency, English Nature and others. The plan is likely to include actions in the following areas: Policy and Legislation (fishery powers); Site safeguard and management (favourable management plans for key sites); Research (monitoring schemes, European-wide studies of the biology and background and status of the species); Communications and publicity (information for fishermen and anglers)
