Background and status	Adults found in small numbers around the coast in most years. No breeding grounds known around the South West.
Main Threats	Poorly understood, but likely to include: pollution, loss to fisheries, habitat destruction
Conservation and targets	Confirm current status identifying key sites, and offer protection to these key sites, An action plan, is being developed in England and Wales by the Environment Agency, English Nature and others. The plan is likely to include actions in the following areas: Policy and Legislation (fishery powers); Site safeguard and management (favourable management plans for key sites); Research (monitoring schemes, European-wide studies of the biology and background and status of the species); Communications and publicity (information for fishermen and anglers)
